From Rules to Caring Practices
Ethics and Community-Based Care for Elders

From Rules to Caring Practices provides administrators an educational program to use in the training of home care and adult day services workers. Stories from caregivers illustrate the major learning points in instructor's guides and caregiver's workbooks for both care settings. A video for use with the home care material animates stories found in the home care material. The three one-hour sessions in each setting may be used individually or as one training session. The instructor's guide provides complete details for the non-educator.

Caregivers will recognize everyday behaviors of concern, care, commitment, respect, gentleness, responsiveness and trust as ethical aspects of their work. Opportunities for your organization to present information on policies, procedures, and expectations are included, making this a terrific orientation program for frontline workers.

This program will help caregivers recognize the moral importance of their work and increase their knowledge of everyday ethics, improving the lives of elders in home care and day care programs
